Refugee Support Services is one of MCSSD oldest and most successful programs, all Praise is due to Allah. On almost a weekly basis, brothers and sisters visit new refugee families and welcome them to the San Diego area. During these trips each family's situation is assessed and additional assistance is provided to the most needy (this group usually includes families who come to San Diego with very little, widows and orphans, and families with disabled members). Volunteers accept and deliver furniture, appliances and other household items when needed. MCSSD also provides financial assistance in emergency cases.
Volunteers, who are willing and able to commit time atleast once a month to help with this program, are greatly needed. Please contact info@mcssd.org if you are interested in learning more about how you can help.
If you have items to donate, please call 619 696 9267 or email Brother Naqi at info@mcssd.org.

Aqeeqa refers to the recommended practice of sacrficing an animal after a baby is born.
"After slaughtering... it is recommended to distribute the meat to the poor" - Reliance of the Traveller.
MCSSD's is now offering to assist families in distributing Aqeeqa meat to needy people in San Diego County. MCSSD volunteers can either deliver the meat directly to families, or can arrange to help invite and transport needy people to the meal.
If possible, please plan ahead for your Aqeeqa. In order to help, we appreciate as much advance notice as possible. For more information, please send an email to info@mcssd.org.

MCSSD is actively raising money for its Indigent Burial Fund. The fund makes it possible to provide immediate assistance in the event that a Muslim brother or sister dies without the ability to afford a proper Islamic burial.
MCSSD recently held a Car Wash Fundraiser, with the help of the Masjidul Taqwa Youth Group, to raise money for the fund.
If you or your organization can help by organizing or hosting a fundraiser to raise money for this cause, please contact info@mcssd.org.
To make a personal donation to the fund, please go to http://mcssd.org/donate.

Many of the refugee families here in San Diego, especially those who have recently arrived and those who don't have anyone in the family who is able to work, are really struggling. They depend on government assistance but they receive just enough money to barely pay their basic monthly bills (rent, electricity, water, etc.). They are usually able to scrape-by every month, but from time to time, they just aren't able to pay one or more of their bills. Once they get behind, it can be almost impossible for them to come up with the extra money to catch up. This time of the year, when its darker and colder, is especially difficult. These families are under constant stress to make end meets, and constant fear of going into debt because they have no where to turn in the event that they do need help.
That is why MCS is starting a new fund to provide assistance to needy families in emergency situations. The fund will be used mainly to pay overdue bills and debts. We estimate needing $600 to $800 per month... so maintaining the fund will entail constant fundraising.
Can you pledge a monthly amount towards this project? Can you contribute now? Every little amount helps. To donate, please go to http://mcssd.org/donate.
